At Absolute Home Improvements, we recently completed another successful skylight replacement project. Our skilled professionals replaced two old and leaking skylights with brand-new Velux deck-mounted manual venting skylights. These skylights are made with high-quality double-pane laminated safety glass, which also features a double layer of Low-E3 coating. This special coating helps control heat gain during the summer months and keeps heat inside during the winter heating season.
The new skylights also feature a trademarked Neat coating from Velux, which makes the glass surface smoother. This coating ensures that water disperses evenly, sheets off, and evaporates quickly, thus minimizing water spotting on the pane. To complete this project, we installed an ice shield underlayment around the skylights, ensuring maximum protection from any ice or snow buildup. We also made sure to use matching roof shingles to ensure a seamless transition between the old and new roofing materials.
Additionally, we used the correct Velux flashing kits to ensure that the skylights were securely attached to the roof, and that there was no chance of water infiltration.
